Federal minimum wage to increase
During the State of the Union, Obama has announced that he will be increasing the federal minimum wage to $10.10 an hour.
This will be a $2.85 increase to the current $7.25 minimum wage, a wage that has remained the same since 2009.
It is unknown how long it will take for the new federal law to be in effect, but it could be over a year before we start seeing the change.
