Bomber in Baghdad kills 31, 56 wounded

   A suicide bomber, who also planted an additional car bomb, killed 31 people at a political protest in Baghdad yesterday and left 56 wounded.    After the car bomb went off, the bomber wearing a suicide vest ran into the protesters and set off the bomb.    Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, an al Qaeda splinter group, claims responsibility for the incident.  Information from CNN 

Connecticut high school student slashed to death by classmate

   Maren Sanchez, a 16-year-old girl attending Jonathan Law High School in Milford, Connecticut, was slashed to death by a classmate during school.    The suspect is in custody and the murder weapon, a knife, has been recovered. While the motive is not finalized, it is believed that the suspect asked Sanchez to prom, and was then turned down. The suspect then turned violent and killed Sanchez.    Prom for Jonathan Law High School has been postponed. Information from CNN  & The Washington Post

North Korea claims to have captured an American

   North Korea claims to have one American in custody. The country says that the man, Miller Matthew Todd, was arrested for "rash behavior" on April 10th. Todd is 24-years-old.     President Obama was in South Korea at the time of the announcement. Obama did not release any further information on the incident.  Information from Newsweek & KCNA

250 teenagers dead/missing after ferry accident

   Juniors attending Danwon high school in Ansan, South Korea, have tragically lost their lives after a ferry accident.    Out of the 325 students, 250 are dead/missing. The junior class was on a school trip to celebrate the end of the year.    Among the students, teachers also attended the trip and lost their lives. Flight 370 still not found

   Over a month later, flight 370 has still not been found.    The airplane, which carried over 200 passengers, disappeared a month and half ago and searchers have not found any evidence of the plane.    Families of the passengers hope to find closure when search teams confirm the death of their family members.

GM loses $1.3 billion

   General Motors recalled millions of cars, which made the company lose $1.3 billion.    The vehicles that were recalled were responsible for at least 13 deaths.    The company only made $108 million in profit for this financial quarter. Information from CNN

Gunman shoots four American medical workers in Afghan hospital

   A security guard what worked in an Afghan hospital open fired today, shooting four American medical workers and killing three of them.    The security guard-turned-gunman then shot himself, but survived the bullet.    The motive for the shooting is unclear. Information from CNN  & FOX

College football players beat homeless man into an unconscious state

   22-year-old Craig Parsons and 23-year-old Anthony Varrichione, both college football players, beat up a homeless man into unconsciousness in Boston earlier this year.    The football players both pleaded not guilty today, but will appear in court again early this June.     The homeless man does not recall the incident after he awoke in a nearby hospital.
